DNA Restriction and Electrophoresis

"Gel Electrophoresis" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDZUAleWX78 Gel electrophoresis is a laboratory method  used to separate mixtures of DNA, RNA, or proteins according to molecular size . In gel electrophoresis, the molecules to be separated are pushed by an electrical field through a gel that contains small pores. This video was very interesting. The concepts of the video are explained down to the detail and can be understood by someone who has never heard of DNA Restriction and Electrophoresis. I like the section in the video where it talks about the role of the restriction enzymes, I never really had an explanation of restriction enzymes broken down in such simple terms.

Isolating Plasmid DNA

Isolating Plasmid DNA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xEDEJ0DHFA The purification of plasmid DNA from bacterial cells is an important step in the cloning workflow. During plasmid purification, bacterial cells are  lysed, freeing DNA and other cellular components from the cell wall .  This video gives brief, but a precise of description of what a plasmid is. The beginning of the video is them basically talking the viewer through what happens in the isolation of a plasmid then it goes on to a scientist doing the actual experiment. It was something to really enjoy watching.

Micropipetting and Sterile Techniques

"How to pipette correctly – a short step-by-step introduction into proper pipetting"           https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGX490kuKjg A micropipette is a common yet an essential laboratory instrument  used to accurately and precisely transfer volumes of liquid in the microliter range . I enjoyed watching this video because it reminded me of how we learned to use micropipettes in the lab. This video shows exactly how to correctly use the instrument and gets up close so you can see what is exactly being pressed. Also I appreciated the fact that in parts of the video there is captions with some of the instructions that would be really important to pay attention to.
